No. Forget it.

But I realize that a lot of misconceptions exist about the topic, so here are a few thoughts about machine translation.

When ordering the translation of documents for the Web, please don't forget to state your requirements with regard to the translation of meta tags, ALT texts and comments.

HTML is a reasonably standardized language, but the choice of editor is nevertheless an important consideration. A common source of aggravation when translating Web pages is the automatic insertion of unwanted, proprietary code into your carefully crafted pages by WYSIWYG editors - in extreme cases, the HTML can be changed almost beyond recognition the first time the document is saved.

I avoid such problems by using Déjà Vu, which locks markup language tags during the translation process and allows me to concentrate on the actual copy. An alternative for small projects is HomeSite, an advanced editor designed to give the user full control over the document's structure. Either way, you can rest assured that no junk code will be inserted behind your back.
